About Oliver Stiff
I’m a London-based designer holding a First Class Honours degree in Product and Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins, and currently completing an MA in Design Products at the Royal College of Art, supported by the President and Vice-Chancellor’s UK Scholarship.
Working at the intersection of furniture and fashion, I draw on bodily reference, silhouette, and the act of dressing to inform form. Heritage materials such as tweed and leather are recontextualised through processes of displacement and reuse, allowing their meanings to shift and reform.
Recent projects explore sculptural metal structures and adaptive forms, balancing precision with tension, and control with disruption. While these works operate as designer-led pieces, they retain a deliberate functionality, coupled with an almost seductive presence.
Alongside a strong conceptual approach, I have developed a broad and highly technical skill set across both digital and physical making. My practice spans sketch development, technical drawing, CAD modelling, rendering, and full-scale prototyping. I am proficient in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and KeyShot, using these tools to move seamlessly from concept through to manufacture and visualisation.
Equally, my work is grounded in hands-on fabrication. I have extensive workshop experience across metal, wood, and mixed-material processes, with particular strength in welding and metal fabrication. This combination of conceptual thinking, technical precision, and material understanding allows me to design and produce objects with a high level of finish, structural integrity, and spatial presence.
